Citizens’ Guide to Estuarine Protection
The Pleasant Bay Resource Management Plan (1998) and Plan Update (2003) call for the development of nitrogen management strategies for the watersheds within the Pleasant Bay system. The Citizens' Guide to Estuarine Protection is a series of publications by the Alliance designed to inform property owners about wastewater management and nitrogen loading issues in their area. The guides are intended to support community action to protect the quality of our groundwater, ponds and coastal waters. The first Citizens' Guide published in 2000 focused on the Arey's Pond watershed. In 2004 the Alliance published Citizen's Guide to Estuarine Protection: Nitrogen Management for the River Complex Watersheds. Future Citizen's Guides will focus on other areas within the Pleasant Bay watershed. The project was funded through grants from the Cape Cod Commission and the Cape Cod Foundation Saltwater Fund
